Do Do Do Do Dora

Friday Carsyn had a wonderful treat. Momma and Daddy took her to a Dora Pirate show. It was at an old theatre in Hurst and perfect for a 3 year old. Dora and her friends Boots and Diego had a pirate adventure. There were local kids acting out the roles and it lasted about an hour. Carsyn had popcorn, Momma had peanut M&M’s and we shared a Capri Sun. Good times.

IMG_0421 Here’s Carsyn and Daddy. She was a little overwhelmed at first. There was a lot going on and she was uncertain about all of it.

IMG_0427 She sat in her chair watching intently for a long time. It wasn’t until Swiper the Fox came onto the scene did Carsyn start to participate in the interactive part of the show. She was ALL ABOUT shouting “Swiper No Swiping”, even when NO BODY else was telling Swiper not to swipe. After that Carsyn felt free to start asking Dora or Diego questions about the show (we were on the front row). Fortunately the actors were seasoned and they weren’t thrown off by my bold 3 year old.

In the end, Carsyn took her picture with her beloved Dora and then went to town dancing on the stage.

Tee it Up

Look what made an appearance at our house. A baseball tee.

(disclaimer…this is a Saturday morning outfit picked out by a 9 month pregnant momma that had not done laundry recently. This situation has been rectified. Tony has no responsibility for this outfit.)

Tony was very patient with Carsyn and walked her through the proper stance.

I'll Pay

Carson and I actually left the house Saturday and did some shopping. We hit Walmart first then Target. Both times Carsyn wanted to pay. Swipe the card and sign with the super cool pen. Both times I encouraged her to get a job and then she could pay.

Sunday we ran to Target again. Pretty monumental for me. I needed to return something at customer service. The counter is lower there. Just as the clerk was telling me to sign, Carsyn sneaks her trigger happy hand up there and signs for me. The clerk praised her for her transaction. Carsyn was so proud of herself and I'm confident I witnessed the start of a new obsession. Thanks Target.

Punk!

Maybe it’s just me, but I think Carsyn is one jean jacket short of Punky Brewster.

Carsyn is using her pirate telescope. She says it makes things smaller. I guess when you’re out on the high seas, it’s ok if things look smaller.

Monitoring the Situation

Last night Carsyn’s monitor was outrageously loud. Annoying static permeated my dreams and IT.WOULD.NOT.STOP. Carsyn has been sleeping on her blow up princess bed in the floor of her room for several months. Perhaps we don’t even need a monitor on her, but none the less, it’s there.

I was already gone when Carsyn woke up and walked into our bedroom. Tony said he went to turn the monitor off and noticed a face staring back at him. Silly Tony. That’s just one of Carsyn’s baby dolls. Then the face moved. The whole body moved. Tony looked closer. That was NOT our baby. Who’s baby is that? Someone else has their baby monitor set to the same frequency as Carsyn’s and we’d been watching someone else's kid all night! Come to find out, Carsyn’s camera wasn’t even on.

Pirate Talk

Carsyn enjoys a little pirate talk. She’s been know to cover one eye and say “Arg, Maty” for a while now. Then Dora and Diego have jumped on the pirate bandwagon and her phrases have increased to:

“Aye, aye Captain.”

“Trim the Sails”

But my favorite was last night. After rattling of her repertoire she ends with a dramatic “All hands on neck” and while sweeping her arm out then back in to cover her neck.

She’s 3. She knows what a neck is.  A Deck??? nothing.

Rylee Lynn

Hooray she’s here!! My sister had her baby this week!

6lbs 15 oz

IMG_0385

Sweet baby girl Rylee Lynn arrived in a whirlwind rush very early on Thursday morning. Watch out Momma and Daddy, when this girl sets her mind on something, nothing is going to stop her. Rylee educated us all on a precipitous birth. Misty labored for about 3 hours and Rylee was here. Misty was only at the hospital for 40 minutes before Rylee forced her way onto center stage.

IMG_0377 Here is Carsyn meeting Rylee for the first time. She was so very excited to see and hold her. She told Tony that she was going to teach her how to dance, jump and twirl. Carsyn was concerned about holding Rylee’s head. She did an EXCELLENT job and is now ready for baby brother to make his appearance.

Morning Happenings

Most weekday mornings I’m out the door before anyone else is out of bed. I try to get to work early and beat some traffic so I can leave early and beat some more traffic on my way home.  This morning I had a doctor’s appointment and didn’t have to leave too early and got to witness what goes on around this joint.

There is a really a sweet rhythm going on in our house when Tony and Carsyn get ready for their days. First there is snuggle time. This is where Carsyn gets in our bed and dulls out hugs and kisses. She wiggles her way next to you and sings silly songs.  Eventually she’ll ask for a pop tart and to watch Diego. This morning she consulted with Baby Brother on the TV show selection.

Leaning toward my belly, “Baby brother, what do you want to watch?” Pause. “What’s that? I didn’t hear you.” Pause. “Oh, ok.” Turning to me she says, “Baby Brother wants to watch Team Umizoomi.”

Can you feel it? They’re already working as a team to out maneuver us.

As Tony and I are getting ready in the bathroom, Tony turns the iPad on and selects some tunes to start the day. Carsyn walks in when she hears the music. Baby girl and Daddy share a love of music. I like music, but it doesn’t often make my radar of important things. Carsyn starts dancing around the bathroom and Tony is clapping and encouraging her. I’m enjoying the little scene. Carsyn stops and looks at me with her hands out and says “Momma, I need more space.” AKA…move it lady, you’re standing on my dance floor. I laugh and then get my happy self to the closet. Tony explains this is their morning routine.

I have to give Tony a lot of credit for having such great mornings. When it’s my turn to take Carsyn in the mornings, I’m more like a Drill Sergeant and less like Mary Poppins.

Look What the Cat Drug In

It should actually say, Look What Carsyn Drug In. She invited the neighborhood cat in while Tony was out getting the mail Saturday morning. Really? Didn’t realize I need to have NO CATS as a house rule. Or NO RANDOM ANIMALS.IMG_0368

This is Carsyn’s very sad face when I told her the cat needed to go home.

Baby girl loves animals. She was very sweet to the cat and wanted to play with him.

IMG_0370

PS…please don’t fear. It’s not really a stray. It’s a very well cared for, loved by someone cat that walks around like he owns the place.
