Happy 8 month B-Day

Carsyn, You are 8 months old today. You are the most enjoyable person in your Daddy's and my life. You are so funny. You crack yourself up and that makes me and Daddy laugh. You are content to play by yourself for a short while when momma needs to take a shower or get your supper ready. You are an active busy busy little girl, always on the move. You are loving the new toys momma and MamMaw bought you last month. You like picking the blocks up out of the bucket, but we're still working on putting them back in the bucket. You love music just like your Daddy. Just this weekend, we've noticed you dancing to the music. You are talking and squawking. We don't always understand what you say, but you seem to.
You love love love to eat peaches. You tolerate peas only because you know the peaches are coming. You also like apples, pears, sweet potatoes, and butternut squash. It's still baseball season and you and Daddy love watching the Rangers together. They always win when you watch!
You've moved from just army crawl to real hand and knees crawling (some of the time. You're still quicker at army crawl). You're just so fast I haven't caught any of it on video.
You weigh about 20lbs.
You still have two teeth, but i suspect more are coming soon.
You wear 9 months clothes and a size 3 diaper.
You enjoy the church nursery. Here and in Oklahoma. That makes momma very happy.
You love Ms. Brandy's house. You can Callen have so much fun playing together all day.

Carsyn, Your Daddy and I love you more than anything. We are so proud you are our daughter. We will always love you.

A Tale of Two Babies

Actually it's just one baby. Carsyn. My baby. A more accurate title might have been, A Tale of Two Mornings, but A Tale of Two Babies sounded catchier. Don't you think?
Here is my sleepy head this morning. (of course I need to clarify this with some facts. She woke up at 5 am and that is why she is in my bed. I call it my bed because Tony was in Tulsa catching bad guys.)
Like her outfit? I wish she was old enough so I could say she picked it out herself. Then everyone would say, 'ah, how cute'. But the reality is, I picked it out. Please note that it really is OK to mix patterns if you stay in the same color family. Truth is, she is growing out of her PJ's and this is what found for her to wear.

I'm Ready for My Close Up

Carsyn, sweet baby girl, got up at 4:30 this morning. Suppose she was hungry. Because at 4:30 am, this momma can't imagine ANY OTHER REASON she would be awake. So we ate. We being her. I left her laying awake in her crib at about 5:15 and I went back to bed.
My alarm went off at 6. Thought I could hear Carsyn talking, but I needed 5 more minutes. Just 5 more minutes. Alarm went off again. Could still hear Carsyn. But it sounded funny. What's going on in that crib??? I look at the monitor by the bed. (yes, we have one of those fancy video ones. It was a gift. Yes, I registered for it, but only after a complete stranger at Babies-R-Us insisted my life wouldn't be the same without it). So, I looked at the monitor. What did I see??? Fingers, hands.
I walked into her room, camera in hand and this is what I found.
Who knows how she got that thing off the top of the crib or how long she'd been awake. But she was a very happy girl. Quite pleased with her new toy, I imagine.

PS The pears were a much bigger hit at daycare today. Thank goodness. She likes pears. And to scream at her momma. We're working on the second part.

Pears

Please view the following as proof (I'm talking to you grandparents) that our baby isn't always hugs and kisses. Last night she was so very tired. It caught us off guard. She wanted to go to bed at 7:30. Tony was giving her a bath and she screamed the WHOLE time. She went to bed soon after bath time and slept until I woke her up at 6. And she really didn't want to get up then. A girl after my own heart.

Tonight we tried pears.

Not our favorite.

Piano Girl

It's ok to admit that you're impressed. Carsyn can play the piano with her feet. We were just playing in the floor tonight and she decided to show off her new skills.

Inspector in Training

On numerous occasions I've found Carsyn nosing around Tony's work bag. Earlier this week she even opened one of the zipped side pockets and got a CD out. This morning before church I happened to catch her in the act with photographic evidence.

Tony better be careful or Carsyn will figure out how to zip herself up in that bag and go to work with him.

Beauty and Brains

To be clear. we are not promoting beauty over all else. But it just comes naturally for this baby ;-) Carsyn spent some time brushing her hair...
and her toes, all in preparation of eating...
I mean, reading her book.

Come Closer

Peas in a Pod

Momma came home and what to my wondering eyes did appear?
Daddy and Carsyn taking a nap! How sweet!

Clear the Room

Pretty sure Carsyn will die when she reads this post when she's older. Tony and I ate supper last night with our church Home Team. She was looking very sweet in her new dress and big bow. As you well know, Carsyn has been eating various solid foods. This is causing some new experiences for us all.
Long story short...Carsyn had some rumbling in her tummy and passed gas. It was REALLY BAD. All 8 adults cleared out of the place fast. One girl thought the smell came from her husband. Nope. It came from our sweet little 7 month old. Tony was so proud.

Baby's Got New Toys

Tony's parents, aka, MaMaw and PaPaw came to town and bought Carsyn some new toys. I know everyone says kids don't need a lot of toys and a cardborad box is enough, but Momma and Daddy needed more toys. I can only hear, 'Purple Elephant...(some kind of elephant sound)" so many times.

She loves her new toys!
Ok, so I realize that the video is sideways. I don't know how to fix that. I'll try to remember to keep the camera the correct way next time I shoot video.

Chasing Golf Balls

I can't wait for Carsyn to be on the LPGA with mom and dad in tow. I'll proudly show all her early years of golf pictures and this video.

Girl's Night

Tony is out catching bad guys tonight, so Carsyn is hanging out with mom. Carsyn loves to snuggle. So do I.

Nanas

Despite all evidence to the contray, Carsyn does not have red hair. It just looks like in picutres.
Carsyn has now moved onto Bananas. Yummy Yummy.
Notice my less than stellar photography. I had to be quick or else baby girl would be diving face first into that bowl.

Visitors

My mom and MamMaw came down this week for a visit. I had to work late a few night because we're closing the books for July and Tony was in a golf tournament. So, Granny and MamMaw came to play with Carsyn.

Poor Granny, no one else was there to take their picture.

New Language

It's a little hard to hear on the video, but Carsyn is talking to Tony.

It's Raining, It's Pouring...

Since I don't watch the news or weather (hey, I work inside an office building and don't even go outside for lunch. And it's July/August in Texas. everyone knows it's HOT), I didn't know anything about rain. It came down hard this morning.
So Carsyn and I went out of the front porch to watch. She was really enjoying the sight, I was busy taking cute pictures because I knew the blogging world needed to see this. She was happily sitting in her seat for less than 5 minutes before I realized...hey, she's getting wet. Nuts. I'm chalking it up to an interactive learning experience. She's very tactile and loves her bath. She's fine. But I did move her back inside the house and we watched with the door open for a bit more.

When's My Tee Time?

Now that we're mobile (we meaning, Carsyn is now crawling and I'm now chasing her. Neither of us are getting much down time), it's no surprise that Carsyn has found Tony's golf balls. Since we were dating, Tony has had golf balls and a putter in the living room to allow for impromptu practice.

Like every serious golfer, Carsyn is taking the time to examine which is the best golf ball for her. Her technique my be unconventional but it works for her.
