Party Girl

Carsyn had some buddies over for a birthday party.  Poor baby with a December 30th birthday. It always going to be a challenge to have a party with her friends during the holidays. Tony felt it was really important for her to feel special and get recognized on her birthday. I was willing to wait one more year, but this turned out great. A simple, low key party at home.IMG_0031 What did momma do to prep for the party? Put on her makeup.

IMG_0037My friend Catherine aka Cason’s mom made these amazing decorations for me. This was the perfect set up for a Carsyn’s party (it was actually a traveling road show with 3 stops). She does this as a business and you can have her custom make anything for you. Or you can call her last minute and say you need decorations and she’ll magically make them appear. Even if you don’t have a clue what you want.

This is how you party when you’re 2/3. Lay down on the steps. It’s big time.

Daddy got Carsyn a very special ice cream cake. It was her special request and he made it happen! IMG_0057

Carsyn wanted Cason and Jack to come over. That worked for us because we like their parents. Catherine, Michelle and I were all pregnant at the same time. Just a couple of months apart. And now we’re all gearing up for round 2 together as well.

Cason, Jack and Carsyn all played with the tent, balls, cars and whatever else they could find. The dads mostly referred them and the mom’s sat in another room and talked. It was the best birthday party ever!

Carsyn opened super cute gifts from her friends and then I tried getting a picture of the three of them. You can scan down and see the results. Too funny.

Snug as a Bug

Carsyn got this great air up mattress/sleeping bag for Christmas. She loves it. It’s princess. She loves those right now too. Carsyn and Gage were testing it out on Christmas night. This will replace her pack and play when we go out of town. She is now too big for that baby bed now. She’s a big girl. At least that’s what she keeps telling me.

Daddy had to get in on the action the next day!

Happy Birthday Jesus!

We started a tradition in our house that I hope will continue for a long time. Carsyn, Gage and I made a cake for Baby Jesus. Carsyn was very excited about it and was a great helper. Gage really like helping ice the cake (aka dig into the cake and eat a little).

While Christmas will always be a time of family gatherings and gift giving, I never want Carsyn to miss Jesus at Christmas time. Jesus, God’s perfect gift, will remain the most important part of this and every season to come. He is the ONLY reason we have Peace on Earth.

Santa Prep

Carsyn and I made cookies for Santa. They were sugar cookies that we added cinnamon and sugar to the top for snicker doodles. That is one of Santa’s favorite cookies.

We even got excited when asked “Who loves Daddy?” Carsyn adores her daddy.P1080610

Post oven. Carsyn and momma are both a little tired as this point.

Finally, not to be left out, we put out a special treat for Santa’s reindeer on the drive way.

P1080617 Christmas morning review of the Santa prep? Carsyn didn’t think about the cookies or reindeer food once. There’s always next year.

We made pizza. I think Carsyn enjoyed the processes. I’ve had several people tell me that they make pizza at home instead of ordering out (of course they all live in the boonies and pizza can’t be delivered to the boonies).

P1080557 I bought premade crust and then we added what we liked. Tony and Carsyn seemed to really enjoy theirs. Mine was not my favorite.

Carsyn was very skilled at spreading her sauce around and adder her cheese. Big girl!

North Pole Express

Grapevine has this really cool downtown area and it celebrates Christmas like no other (at least no one else in Texas, per their propaganda). We headed out Friday night to experience the North Pole Express AKA the Polar Express.

P1080434 Our first stop was Christmas ornament making. Carsyn had lots of help from Granny and Daddy.

PaPa T and I could barely stand the propane smell. We’re the ones with good sniffers in the family.

Carsyn got to wear her PJs are part of the Polar Express theme. How cute is she!

Of course supper was in order! Grilled Cheese Please.

Finally on the train. The wonder in her eyes was worth everything.

P1080454 P1080455

Santa even joined us on the train.

The night was perfect. Dare I say magical. Carsyn is so fun right now. She loved meeting Santa and all his helpers. It was a great family fun night!

Let the Little Children Sing

Carsyn had a choir performance last night at church.

It was with the 2,3 and 4 year olds. So we had no idea what to expect.

They met in the children’s area and warmed up on the slide.

Carsyn was super fast.

Carsyn stood by her buddy Jack.

There was one song and lots of shinny maracas. That combination resulted in lots of shaking and little singing.

Simply adorable. Carsyn with her buddy Cason (10 weeks apart), and Jack ( 5 months apart).

P1080429 Granny and PaPa T drove down for the concert and to spend a fun weekend with us. Thanks!

More Advice

Carsyn is getting wise in her years. She offered Momma some sage advice as I was leaving for work today.

Watch out for the bumpy bumps and falling trees. Make sure your car goes over them (instead of hitting them?).

We’ve been in Oklahoma for a few days. Driving on some country roads…you put it together.

Baby Reveal

I had an ultrasound on Monday to make sure this baby is growing healthy and strong. The bonus is we also found out the sex of the baby. Since it was so close to Thanksgiving we decided to reveal the sex in person to our family.P1080341Wednesday night at my parents house we had a little cake and made everyone guess (well…everyone except Jeff. The idea that he could be wrong and it would be written down for all to see was just too much and he didn’t participate. PaPa T voted twice. He didn’t want to be wrong either.)

P1080343Gage just really wanted some cake!

And the exciting news is…

P1080352P1080347I’ll always be so thankful to have the experience of both. Tony is convinced his relationship with Carsyn will be stronger than ever and I can have the boy. But what I think he really means is that I can have surgery, the late night feedings, the sleepless nights for the next year and he’ll keep the potty trained, sleeps through the night 3 year old Daddy’s girl.

After telling my crew, we headed north to Tony’s parent’s house and did the baby reveal all over again. They were just as excited! (probably because we didn’t make them sign a paper with their guess)

How do you noodle?

One of the blessing of joining another family is you learn new skills. Oh sure, these skills might have existed in your own family, but you personally had never seen them in action. You also learn to make these things loved by the people you love. Thus…homemade noodles. These noodles are a staple of the Massey girls and Tony’s mom has been gracious enough to share her knowledge with me.P1080321 It’s getting colder and warm comfort food sounds good. Decided to make chicken noodle soup.

Carsyn decided to help. It’s so sweet and she takes it very seriously. Please note the knife, spoon and fork in the picture above. Those were her utensils of choice. I only used the fork.

She participated at every level of noodle making. She mixed her flour and eggs, rolled them out and then spread flour EVERYWHERE. Her chair, her jeans, her shoes (which should have been off in the first place), the floor in the kitchen, hallway, bathroom, little hand prints of flour on the ottoman. EVERYWHERE.

Happy Birthday Tony!

Carsyn was a little excited about Tony’s birthday. She was even more excited about making him a cake. Her first idea for ingredients included eggs, milk, a banana and strawberries. Luckily Daddy was able to convince her the box kind was the best option! P1080310 Carsyn was an excellent helper. She helped me count out the eggs, measure the water, and oil. She had her spoon ready to stir at a moments notice. She even dragged herself to the store when she realized momma didn’t have enough oil to get the job done. Trooper.

She even held the mixer while we blended all our ingredients together. Super job baby girl!!P1080317Carsyn helped ice the cake and put the Happy Birthday letters on for Daddy. We made a great team and Daddy loved his cake.

Tony’s birthday was Monday and we headed to RJ Gators for supper. See Carsyn trying alligator for the first time. It wasn’t a hit. She insisted on taking a bit instead of popping the whole thing in her mouth. Which is ironic since she’s willing to shove an entire piece of toast in her mouth without a bit.

Tony got some awesome OU gear for his birthday. Thank you for being born! So happy to have you as my husband and Carsyn’s Daddy.

We had a party at Mike and Catherine’s on Friday night. Trunk or Treat at church Sunday and then candy giving on Monday.

P1080251Carsyn played with the sand table for an hour. Who knew?

P1080264Carsyn and her buddy Cason. They like each other. P1080272Carsyn and momma riding the train at church. P1080275She had a good time!

P1080284We didn’t take Carsyn door to door. She has the BEST time handing out candy to the trick-or-treaters on Monday. She watched for them out the window and would jump up and down and run around when they came. She was very generous and spoke with the kids. Saying she liked their costume or asking what their costume was. After a little coaching from Dad she gave out handfuls of candy.

Church Park

Saturday morning Carsyn and I headed out to meet our friends Catherine and Cason at the park. We ended up at the church’s play ground. Carsyn thought that was super cool.

P1080178 The were both wearing green shirts. It’s hard to see Cason, but he’s up in the tower in the top left corner of the picture. Carsyn is telling him he is super tall!

P1080172I pretty much did a horrible job taking pictures. Catherine and needed to just hang out and talk and that was the BEST part about the church playground. It’s enclosed and there were no other kids. So we just let our do whatever.

P1080173 This cracked me up. They both played with the tetherballs, but just not with each other. Which is probably good. Carsyn fell and hurt her knee on the blue base and Cason’s ball hit him in the head. Can you imagine if they were both trying to hit the same ball?!?
